In
the 1920's, the grandmothe
of the present owner, who
was a painter as well as being
the friend, model and muse of
Matisse and Maillol, chose this
site in Collioure as the setting for
the Hotel Madeloc.
She painted numerous canvases,
many of which adorn the walls of
the hotel. The spirit which inspired
her lingers on in the exhibition of
paintings held here every summer.
